Privacy Policy

The short version
We check your assessment against published home-value data and estimate whether you may be over-assessed. To do that we need an email address and a few details about your property. If your case looks worth pursuing, we share those details with one or more property tax appeal companies so they can contact you about handling it. That sharing is the point of this site, not a side effect, and you can ask us to delete everything at any time.
What we collect
- Your email address, which is required before we show any provider recommendations.
- What you type into the calculator: zip code, assessed value, property type, optional bedroom count and square footage, and for some states a second value from your assessment notice.
- What we worked out from those inputs: the estimated gap between your assessed value and market value, estimated annual savings, and which route we recommended.
- Which company we routed you to, if any, so we can tell you and them apart.
We do not ask for your name, address, phone number, or any payment details, and we do not run a user account system.
Who we share it with
Property tax appeal companies. If your estimate suggests a real case, we pass your email address and the property details above to the company or companies we recommend for your county, so they can contact you. Those companies are separate businesses with their own privacy policies, and once they have your details their handling of them is governed by those policies. We choose which companies to route to, and if no company covers your state we will not send your details to one that cannot help.
Our service providers. We store the data in a PostgreSQL database that we run ourselves on a server hosted by DigitalOcean. We do not rent your information, and we do not share it for advertising. We may be paid by an appeal company when it takes on a case we sent it, which is how this site is funded. Whether that counts as a "sale" of personal information under California law is a question we have put to counsel, and until it is answered we offer the opt-out described under Your choices below to everyone, regardless of where they live.
What we store on your device
We store your light or dark theme preference in your browser's local storage. That is a setting on your device, it is not sent to us, and clearing your browser data removes it. We do not set advertising cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep a lead record for 24 months after the last contact with you, and delete it after that. Twenty-four months is the usual period for marketing and lead data, and it is long enough to handle a question about an estimate you ran last year without holding your details indefinitely.
Deleting our record does not delete anything held by a company we already sent your details to. Those companies are separate businesses and keep their own records under their own policies, and you would need to ask them directly. We can tell you which company it was.
Your choices
Write to us at the address below and we will delete the record we hold for your email address, or tell you what we have. Because we share details with appeal companies at the time you submit them, deleting our record does not reach a company that already has them; you would need to contact that company directly, and we can tell you which one it was.
If you live in California, the CCPA and CPRA give you the right to know what personal information we hold and who we have shared it with, to ask us to delete or correct it, to opt out of the sale or sharing of it, and to not be discriminated against for exercising any of those rights. You can make any of those requests at the address below and we will honour them.
To opt out of having your details sent to an appeal company, do not submit the form, or write to us and we will remove the record. The estimate itself needs no account and no payment; the email address is only required before we show provider recommendations.
California's "Do Not Track" signal is not a required mechanism under the CPRA and this site does not respond to it, because no cross-site tracking happens here. If analytics is added later, this paragraph changes with it.
Depending on where you live you may have additional rights over your personal information, including rights to access, correct, or delete it and to object to certain processing. We honour those requests regardless of where you live.
Children
This service is for property owners and is not directed at anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
